Assessment of Adherence to Post-exposure Prophylaxis with Oseltamivir in Healthcare Workers: A Retrospective Questionnaire-Based Study

Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for healthcare workers is one of the effective strategies preventing nosocomial outbreaks influenza. However, PEP adherence in rarely analysed, and no have been established to improve workers. We aimed retrospectively analyse factors associated with non-adherence A survey 221 who were eligible at Tokushima University Hospital 2016/2017 season was conducted. Once-daily oseltamivir (75 mg 10 d) used as regimen. Of workers, 175 received surveyed using a questionnaire. 130 responded questionnaire, 121 (93.1%) had vaccinated. In this survey, 82 (63.1%) did not fully complete PEP. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that physicians (odds ratio: 4.62, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.08–10.25) non-vaccination 9.60, CI: 1.12–82.25) 47 item regarding reasons non-adherence, 36 (76.6%) reported forgetting take or discontinuing it due misguided self-decision continuation unnecessary, 5 (10.6%) treatment adverse effects. conclusion, particularly physicians, low owing stopping self-decision.
